SPITS ACQUIRE PAIR FROM COLTS

(Windsor, ON) – General Manager Warren Rychel has made a pair of deals with the Barrie Colts.
The Spitfires have acquired forwards Mathew MacDougall and Vincent DeSanctis in exchange for draft picks.
MacDougall, a 6’0, 190-pound left winger, was originally Barrie’s 3rd round pick in the 2016 OHL Priority Selection. He was part of the York Simcoe Express club that won the 2016 OHL Cup.
“Our scouting staff coveted Mathew in the draft,” said Rychel. “We were unable to get him at the time, but we’re very happy to get his rights today. Mathew is an elite skater that has pro potential.”
MacDougall played at St Andrew’s College last season, recording 20 goals and 15 assists in 50 games.
In exchange, Barrie gets Windsor’s 14th round pick in 2018 and a conditional 4th round pick in 2020.
DeSanctis was Barrie’s 13th round pick in 2016. He comes to Windsor along with a 15th round pick in 2021, in exchange for Windsor’s 15th round pick in 2021 and a conditional 11th round pick in 2019.
A 5’11, 190-pound right winger, DeSanctis is from Howard Beach, New York. He played for the P.A.L Junior Islanders last season, where he scored 18 goals and added 14 assists in 56 games.
“Vincent is a hard-working, sturdy and hard-nosed player who does his best work on the forecheck,” Rychel said. “He will have a chance to crack our young lineup at training camp in August.”
