Spitfires Can’t Solve Wolves, Lose 3-2

The Spitfires were chasing the game for a 5th straight game after suffering the games first goal. They battled back but ultimately fell 3-2.

In the first period, it was the Wolves scoring just over 2 minutes in to take an early 1-0 lead. The Spitfires have given up the first goal in the last 5 games. Sudbury would add another goal in the period to take a 2-0 lead. The Wolves led in shots 15-6 after the first period.

In the second period, the Spitfires would score early but after a quick review it was determined no goal after the play was offside. However, just under halfway through the frame, the Spitfires would score on the powerplay. It was Christopoulos’s 28th on the season with the tip in front. Greentree and Maggio had assists on the goal. The Spitfires trailed 2-1 on the scoreboard and in shots 27-15 after 2 periods.

In the third period, just under seven minutes to play it was Aidan Castle scoring his first goal as a Spitfire to tie the game at 2. Late in the period the Wolves would score to take a 3-2 lead. The Spitfires pulled the goalie but could not score and the Wolves held on for a 3-2 win.

The Spitfires are back in action on Sunday January 29th in Sault Ste. Marie. Puck drop is scheduled for 2:05pm
