Johnston and Miedema Invited to Team Canada Camps

The Windsor Spitfires are proud to announce forward Wyatt Johnston has been invited to attend Canada’s National Junior Team summer development camp while forward Ethan Miedema has been invited to attend Canada’s National Men’s Under-18 Team summer development camp. 

The National Junior Team development camp is scheduled for July 23-27 at the Markin McPhail Centre at WinSport’s Canada Olympic Park in Calgary.

Players selected from this camp will represent Team Canada in the 2023 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship December 26. 2022 to January 5, 2023 in Halifax, Nova Scotia and Moncton, New Brunswick.

Johnston, from Toronto, Ontario, set new OHL career highs this past season in games played (68), goals (46), assists (77), points (124), plus minus (+29) and penalty minutes (26). He also played in all 25 playoff games registering 41 points (14 goals and 27 assists). Johnston was named the Eddie Powers Memorial Trophy winner and the Red Tilson for the leagues MVP At the conclusion of the regular season. He is currently a Dallas Stars prospect when he was selected 23rd overall in the 2021 NHL Draft.

The Under 18 development camp is scheduled for July 20-23 at the Markin McPhail Centre at WinSport’s Canada Olympic Park in Calgary.

Players selected from this camp will represent Team Canada in the 2022 Hlinka Gretzky Cup July 31-August 6 in Red Deer at Peavey Mart Centrium, home of the WHL’s Red Deer Rebels.

Miedema, from Cobourg, Ontario, had a great rookie season. He played in 65 games and recorded 14 goals and 24 assists for 38 points. He played in all 25 playoff games and recorded 1 goal and 4 assists.
