(Sarnia, ON) – Michael DiPietro made 43 saves as the Spitfires beat the Sting 6-2 at Progressive Auto Sales Arena Friday night in Game One of their Western Conference quarter-final series.

Cole Purboo scored twice and Igor Larionov (1G, 1A) had the winner at 17:02 of the second period, as the visitors stunned the CHL’s #5-ranked team.

William Sirman, Zack Shankar and Jake Smith had the other goals, while Drake Rymsha and Anthony Salinitri replied for Sarnia.

Justin Fazio made 24 saves in a losing cause.

Game Two of the series goes Saturday night.
