(Peterborough, ON) – Jake Smith scored the eventual game winner late in the second period and Mikey DiPietro’s 32 saves made it stand up, as the Spits earned a 2-1 win over the Petes Thursday night in front of 3,454 at the Peterborough Memorial Centre.

Curtis Douglas (10) had the other goal for Windsor (20-13-2-1), which opened a three-game Eastern Ontario road trip that includes stops in Kingston (Friday) and Ottawa (Sunday).

Cody Morgan – acquired earlier in the week as part of the deal that sent Gabe Vilardi and Sean Day to Kingston – earned his first point as a Spitfire, setting up Smith’s eighth of the season.

Cole Fraser (2) had the only goal for a struggling Peterborough (16-20-2-1) club that’s lost three straight while winning just once in 10 tries.

Dylan Wells made 24 saves in a losing effort, including 10 in the third period.
