(Saginaw, MI) – Michael DiPietro made 20 saves for his seventh shutout of the season Saturday night, as the Spitfires moved into 7th place in the Western Conference thanks to a 4-0 win over the Spirit at the Dow Event Center.

Tyler Angle (10), Cody Morgan (10), Luke Boka (14) and Luke Kutkevicius (12) scored for a Windsor (29-27-3-2) club that leapfrogged Saginaw (27-26-8-0) into the #7 seed in the Western Conference with the victory.

The shutout was the 15th career for DiPietro, who now sits just one back of former Guelph and Brampton star Tom McCollum for the most shutouts in the modern Ontario Hockey League era.

The Spitfires wrap the weekend with an afternoon matinee in the Soo Sunday (2:00).

NOTES

  • The Spitfires have now held their opponent to 30 or fewer shots in seven straight games, averaging just 23.7 against during that stretch.
  • Igor Larionov’s first period assist gave him seven points (1G, 6A) in seven games since returning from injury on February 18th.
