(Kingston, ON) – Cody Morgan scored the game winner against his old team, as the Spits rattled off three straight early in the third period to stun the Frontenacs in front of 3,571 at the K-Rock Centre on Friday night.

Traded to Windsor on New Year’s Day in the deal that saw Gabe Vilardi and Sean Day head to Kingston, Morgan took a feed from Igor Larionov II and beat Jeremy Helvig (20 saves) with a backhand to lift Windsor (21-13-2-1) to an improbable comeback win.

Curtis Douglas (11) scored in the first period (his fourth goal in six games as a Spitfire) to tie the game at 1-1. But the Frontenacs took a 3-1 after 20 minutes thanks to a pair of goals from Linus Nyman (15, 16).

Following a scoreless second, goals by Jake Smith (9) and Daniel D’Amico (4) set the stage for Morgan’s heroics.

Vilardi had a pair of assists in his Frontenacs debut, with primary assists on both of Nyman’s goals.

Lucas Patton earned first star honours with 29 saves, including 16 in a second period dominated by the home side.

The Spits are off Saturday before moving on to Ottawa, where they’ll finish off their three-game Eastern Ontario road trip against the 67s.
