(Kitchener, ON) – Aaron Luchuk scored three times and Luke Boka had a pair of goals, including the game winner, as the shorthanded Spitfires beat the Rangers 8-5 at the Memorial Auditorium on Tuesday night.
Boka’s second of the night at 11:32 stood up as the winner for Windsor (16-10-2-0), which won for the fourth time in five games while snapping Kitchener’s three-game win streak.
Despite not having Logan Brown and Sean Day in the lineup due to the flu, the Spits jumped out to a 3-0 lead before the first period was half done, chasing Rangers starter Luke Richardson (5 saves) after Lev Starikov’s second of the year at 9:52.
Adam Mascherin had three goals in a losing cause for Kitchener (18-10-2-0), while Adam Liska (7) and former Spitfire Cole Carter (6) had the others.
Jake Smith (6) and Daniel D’Amico (3) scored for the visitors, who now host Erie Thursday night on our annual Teddy Bear Toss Night.
