Bob Boughner

Bob Boughner
President & Head Coach

Bob Boughner is entering his fourth season as President and Head Coach of the Windsor Spitfires. In the 2008-2009 season, Bob led the Spitfires to a record setting season which included a 115 point season and OHL regular season title, the team's second OHL Playoff Championship in team history and the pinnacle of success in junior hockey, Windsor's first ever MasterCard Memorial Cup title. At the end of last season, he was again rewarded for his efforts as he was named the Ontario Hockey League and Canadian Hockey League's Coach of the year for a second consecutive season. On the International Stage, Bob served as Head Coach of Team Canada's Men's Under-18 National squad and led them to a perfect 4-0 record and the Gold Medal at the 2009 Memorial of Ivan Hlinka Tournament in the Czech Republic. Prior to his stint behind the bench, Bob headed a new ownership group which purchased the team in February of 2006 after retiring from a professional hockey career in which he played for 10 seasons as a defenseman in the NHL. Bob appeared in 630 games, scoring 72 points and amassing 1382 penalty minutes during his career. He was also named an Assistant Captain with the Pittsburgh Penguins and Captain of the Calgary Flames upon joining these teams. Bob also served as the Executive Vice-President of the NHLPA Players' Association from 2003 - 2006. He also enjoyed a tremendous three-year career in junior hockey with the OHL's Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds, serving as captain of the team that won the 1991 OHL Championship. With an already impressive resume and accomplished career as a player and Head Coach, Bob will look to lead the Spitfires to a second consecutive OHL and Memorial Cup Championship. Bob currently lives in Tecumseh, Ontario with his wife Jennifer and children Brady, Molly, Emma and Lola.

Warren Rychel

Vice President & General Manager

Warren Rychel is entering is his fourth season as Vice-President and General Manager with the Windsor Spitfires. In the 2008-2009 season, Warren's hockey acumen and ability to acquire talented players helped lead the Spitfires to a record setting season which included a 115 point season and OHL regular season title, the team's second OHL Playoff Championship in team history and the pinnacle of success in junior hockey, Windsor's first ever MasterCard Memorial Cup title. Warren's hockey expertise was in full display last season as he acquired key players by way of trades such as Dale Mitchell, Andrei Loktionov, Ben Shutron, Scott Timmins, Josh Unice and Lane MacDermid, players which were all major contributors to the Sptifires' championship performances. Warren was honoured by the Ontario Hockey League for his outstanding work as he was named the 2008-2009 OHL Executive of the Year. Before achieving all of his success, Warren was part of the ownership group which purchased the team in February of 2006 and brings a wealth of experience to this position. Warren worked as a Professional and Amateur Scout with the Phoenix Coyotes for five years and demonstrated an ability to identify talented players during his tenure. He also played thirteen years professionally including nine years in the NHL, scoring 77 points to go along with 1422 Penalty Minutes. Warren also won a Turner Cup Championship with the Indianapolis Ice of the IHL in the 1990 season and was also a member of the Colorado Avalanche team, which won the Stanley Cup in 1996. In his third year as General Manager, Warren's hard work and dedication were again highlighted, as Ryan Ellis (NSH), Jesse Blacker (TOR), Lane MacDermid (BOS), Scott Timmins (FLA) and Eric Wellwood (PHI) were all selected at this past year's NHL Draft along with Richard Panik (TB) who was signed by the team after being selected by Tampa Bay. These players, coupled with possible returning NHL picks Greg Nemisz (CAL), Adam Henrique (NJ), Harry Young (NJ), Mark Cundari (signed by STL) as well as future NHL picks Taylor Hall, Cam Fowler and Austin Watson will lead a supercharged Spitfires squad this year as built by Warren. Warren currently lives in Tecumseh, Ontario with his wife Denise and children Kerby, Maddux and Kendall.

Bob Jones

Bob Jones
Associate Coach

Bob Jones is entering his third season with the Spitfires as an Associate Coach and his knowledge and expertise in the junior hockey ranks were instrumental in helping lead the team to its championship performances last season. Prior to joining the Spitfires, Bob served as an Assistant Coach with the Sudbury Wolves (2004 - 2007) and helped guide the team to the OHL Eastern Conference and the OHL Championship Final three seasons ago. Bob also served as an Associate Coach and Assistant Director of Hockey Operations with the Toronto St. Michael's Majors (2000-2004), Head Coach of the Gold Medalist Team Ontario Under-17 World Junior Hockey Championships (2004), Assistant Coach with the Brampton Battalion (1999- 2000) and started his coaching career as an Assistant Coach with the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds (1995-1998). He was also drafted by the Detroit Red Wings in the 9th Round of the 1989 NHL Entry Draft before playing five seasons of professional hockey in the IHL and CoHL as well as five seasons as a defenseman with the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds of the OHL. This season, Bob will look to help again lead the team to the pinnacle of hockey success. Bob currently resides in Windsor, Ontario with his wife Paige and children Blake and Brianna.

D.J Smith

D.J Smith
Assistant Coach

D.J Smith is entering his sixth season with the Spitfires as an Assistant Coach and works primarily with the team's defensemen and helped lead the team to its championship run last season. D.J is best known in Windsor for his remarkable career as a defenseman with the Spitfires, where he served as the team's captain from 1996-97 and amassed an impressive 142 points from 1994-97. He also played seven years of professional hockey from 1997-2004, in both the AHL and NHL (Toronto Maple Leafs and Colorado Avalanche). This season, D.J will look to help again lead the team to the pinnacle of hockey success. D.J currently lives in Tecumseh, Ontario with his son Coulton.

Paul Billing

Paul Billing
Goaltending Coach

Paul Billing enters his first season with the Spitfires as the Goaltending Coach. Paul has 15 years of experience as a goaltending instructor, having worked at various goatlentding schools in clinics prior to joining the Spitfires. Paul also played in goal at the Division One level in the U.S for St. Louis University and United States International University. Following his collegiate career, he was invited to attend the New York Rangers Training Camp before playing two seasons (1982-1984) in the International Hockey League with Peoria and Toledo. He also won a Turner Cup with Toledo in 1983 and had the IHL's lowest goals against average with goaltending partner Lorne Molleken during this season. Paul currently lives in Tecumseh, Ontario with his wife Delight and three children Georgia, Camille and Eli.

Tyson Tatomir

Equipment Manager

Tyson Tatomir is entering his first full season with the Spitfires as the team's Equipment Manager. Prior to joining the Spitfires, Tyson served as an Assistant Equipment Manager with the NHL's Carolina Hurricanes for the three seasons working alongside his father Wally, Head Equipment Manager of the Hurricanes who also worked for the Spitfires as an Equipment Manager for more than twenty seasons. Tyson graduated from St. Clair College with a diploma from the Woodworking program in 2006 and worked one season with St. Clair College as the hockey team's equipment manager.

Joey Garland

Joey Garland
Athletic Therapist

Joey Garland is entering his fifth season with the Spitfires as an Athletic Therapist. In the summer Joey helps run a dryland conditioning business, preparing younger players for the demands of elite hockey. In 2004 he worked with the Sheridan Bruins as a Therapist and was the Head Athletic Therapist at Olympia Sports Camp during the summer months of 2005 prior to being hired with the Spitfires. Joey graduated with a B.Sc. (Kinesiology) from Dalhousie University in 2002 and also obtained his Sports Injury Management Diploma from Sheridan College in 2005. Joey currently resides in Windsor, Ontario.

Mark Turner

Video Coach

Mark Turner is entering his fourth season with the Spitfires as a Video Coach. Prior to joining the Spitfires, Mark played 16 seasons of professional hockey from 1990 - 2006 in the IHL, CoHL and ECHL. He also played in the OHL for five seasons with Sudbury, Kingston, Sault Ste. Marie and Windsor from 1985-1989. Mark currently resides in Tecumseh, Ontario with his wife Susie.
