Terry Doran is taking another job. But he's not going anywhere.

Head scout with the Spitfires since 2005, Doran was named the club's Assistant General Manager today.

General Manager Warren Rychel credits Doran, in large part, for what the franchise has built in recent seasons.

“Terry has been a key factor in our club’s success through his draft abilities and his knowledge of the league,” said Rychel. “He’s a big part of what we’ve done and what we’re working toward in the future."

In addition to his work with the Spitfires, Doran previously served two stints as General Manager of the Sarnia Sting (1994-96, 2000-2004) and also spent time as a scout for the NHL's Phoenix Coyotes.

But he says there's no place he'd rather be.

"It's exciting to take on this new challenge," Doran told windsorspitfires.com. "I have to thank the ownership group for having faith in me."

Doran says he and the Spitfires have been a good fit because everyone involved has been able to mesh their experience and talents.

"Everyone respects each other. I have tremendous respect for Warren, Bob and the coaching staff. Warren and I work very well together. We tend to see things the same. We don't always agree. But we always manage to work toward what's best for the hockey club."

"I look forward to my new role, and helping bring more championships to the city of Windsor."

Congratulations to Terry and his family on his new appointment.
