PLAYFAIR LEADS SPITS OVER FIREBIRDS

 

(Buffalo, NY) – Chris Playfair had a pair of goals and an assist, as the Spitfires opened the Ontario Hockey League Preseason Showcase with a 4-3 win over the Flint Firebirds at the Key Bank Rink in Buffalo on Friday.

Joseph Mizzi had a goal and two assists and Igor Larionov had the other goal for Windsor, which got 37 saves from Brock Baier.

Trailing 1-0 early in the second period, Playfair scored twice in a 21-second span to give the Spitfires a lead they wouldn’t relinquish.

Larionov’s goal, the eventual game-winner, came at 1:45 of the third period.

The Spits will take on the North Bay Battalion Saturday at 12:30.
